Microneedling at coLaz clinics
Microneedling at coLaz is a collagen-induction treatment that uses a Dermapen device to create thousands of microscopic channels in the skin, triggering the body to lay down new collagen and elastin in response. From £150 per session for decolletage, inner thighs or breast, across our seven UK clinics, with a free consultation and a face protocol that scales by depth and area.

Microneedling is one of the most-requested treatments on the coLaz menu because it sits at the rare crossover of meaningful clinical change and minimal downtime. A course of Dermapen sessions can soften acne scarring that has resisted topical creams for years, smooth stretch marks that no body cream has touched, and refresh tired skin to a brightness that holds for months, all without injectables or laser. From £150 per session, across our seven UK clinics, delivered only by trained clinicians.
How microneedling actually works
The Dermapen is a motorised device with a sterile cartridge of very fine needles at the tip. Passed across the skin at the depth agreed for your protocol, it creates thousands of microscopic channels in the dermis without damaging the surface layer.
Each of those channels is a controlled, healing wound. The body responds by sending fibroblasts to the area and producing new collagen, elastin and growth factors to repair it. The repaired skin is firmer, more elastic and better hydrated than the original tissue. Independent research has measured collagen increases of around two hundred per cent in the treated area after a full course.
We always pair the channels with a hyaluronic-acid or growth-factor serum applied during the session, so the active ingredient is driven directly into the deeper layers of the skin rather than sitting on the surface where most topical products are stuck.
What a coLaz session looks like
Every microneedling session at coLaz begins with a face cleanse and a topical numbing cream applied to the treatment area for thirty to forty-five minutes. By the time the clinician starts the Dermapen, the skin is comfortably numb. The needle depth is set per area: 0.5mm to 1.0mm for face rejuvenation, 1.5mm to 2.5mm for body, stretch marks and acne scarring.
The clinician works in a controlled grid pattern across the area, with the device making rapid vertical passes rather than a dragging motion. Most patients describe the sensation as a sandpaper-like vibration. A face protocol takes around thirty minutes of treatment time; a body area can take longer.
The session closes with a cooling mask or LED light therapy to calm the inflammation and accelerate recovery. You will leave the clinic looking pink, similar to a mild sunburn, and feeling warm in the treated area for a few hours afterwards.
After your microneedling
For the first twenty-four hours, no makeup, no active skincare and no sunscreen, only gentle saline if your clinician suggests it. The skin needs that window to seal the channels. From day two to day four you may see light flaking as the new skin pushes through; resist the urge to pick or peel it manually.
For the rest of the first week, switch to oil-free, fragrance-free cosmetics and skip retinol, vitamin C and acid-based actives even if your routine normally tolerates them. Saunas, steam rooms, sunbeds, swimming pools and intense exercise are out for forty-eight hours. SPF 50 every morning for the next four weeks is non-negotiable, the skin is more photosensitive while it rebuilds.
The immediate post-treatment glow shows in a few days. The deeper structural change builds over four to six weeks and continues for around three months after each session, which is why a course of three to six gives the strongest result.

Often considered alongside
Patients booking microneedling often consider chemical peels for pigmentation and surface renewal between sessions, Profhilo when skin laxity rather than texture is the priority, a Hydrafacial as a gentler monthly maintenance treatment, and PRP face when the platelet growth factors from your own blood are used to amplify the collagen response.
Common questions
What patients ask first.
What is microneedling and how does it work? +
Microneedling, also called collagen induction therapy, uses a motorised pen of fine sterile needles to create thousands of microscopic channels in the skin. Each channel is a controlled, healing wound the body repairs by producing new collagen, elastin and fibroblasts. The repaired skin is firmer, smoother and better hydrated than the original. At coLaz we use the Dermapen device, the depth set per area, and we always pair the channels with a hyaluronic-acid or growth-factor serum so the active ingredient reaches the lower layers of the skin directly.
What depths and areas does coLaz treat? +
Needle depth is matched to the skin and the goal. A face protocol typically uses 0.5mm to 1.0mm for fine lines, pores and overall renewal. Deeper passes of 1.5mm to 2.5mm are used for acne scars, stretch marks and body areas where the skin is thicker. We treat the face, the neck, the decolletage, the abdomen, the thighs, the breast and the upper arms. Stretch marks and scars need the deeper depth, which is why those sessions feel more intense and recover over a longer window than a face session.
How many microneedling sessions do I need? +
A single session gives a visible refresh, but most patients see the strongest result after a course of three to six sessions spaced four to six weeks apart. Acne scarring and stretch marks usually need the longer course because the skin remodelling builds over months, not weeks. Face rejuvenation in someone who simply wants brighter, smoother skin can be done as a course of three with maintenance once or twice a year. The exact protocol is agreed at your free consultation, with the course price confirmed in writing.
What does microneedling feel like and is there downtime? +
A topical numbing cream is applied for thirty to forty-five minutes before the session, after which the sensation is best described as a sandpaper-like vibration across the skin. The face area is comfortable for most patients; deeper passes on the body can be more intense, similar to a strong scratch. Immediately after, the skin looks pink as if mildly sunburned for twelve to twenty-four hours. Light flaking from day two to four is normal as the new skin pushes through. Most patients return to work the next day with light cover-up makeup once the first twenty-four hours have passed.
When will I see microneedling results? +
An immediate post-treatment glow shows within a few days as the inflammation settles and hydration improves. The deeper structural change, the new collagen and elastin, builds over four to six weeks and continues for around three months after each session. A course of three to six sessions delivers cumulative results that can last six to twelve months before a maintenance session is recommended. We photograph the area at consultation and at the end of the course so you can see the change honestly.
Who should not have microneedling? +
We do not treat patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding, who have an active skin infection, eczema flare or cold sore in the treatment area, who are on isotretinoin currently or in the last six months, who have a history of keloid scarring, or who have an autoimmune condition affecting the skin. Recent sun exposure, fake tan and active retinol use are reasons to delay rather than cancel. We always review medical history in detail at consultation before treatment is agreed.
How much does microneedling cost at coLaz? +
A single decolletage, inner-thigh or breast session starts at £150, with a course of three at £390 and a course of six at £600. A full-face session is £190 single, £513 for three or £798 for six, with course rates working out to £133 per session at six. Face and neck combined is £219 single, decolletage or stomach are priced separately, and stretch-mark protocols are quoted by area at consultation. There are no upsells in the chair, and the course rate is the standard rate for any patient who wants the longer protocol.
